ELVIA Travel Insurance was established in 1950 in Switzerland then 24 years later in 1974, SACNAS-Mondial Assistance was founded in France. Both Elvia and Mondial Assistance continued trading in their sseperate entities during the 80's and 90's, then in 1995 Elvia joined the Allianz Group in Germany and then in 2000 Elvia Travel Insurance and SACNAS-Mondial Assistance successfully merged and created Mondial Assistance which is still part of Allianz.
Mondial Assistance operates 247 365 days a year. It employs 10,700 staff who between them speak 40 different languages. There are 28 operations centres across 5 continents, working with 180 correspondents and an extensive global network of 400,000 quality service providers.
Over 4,000 people are assisted by Mondial Assistance every hour and figures from 2008 help illustrate this when they answered 40 million calls and handled 13.5 million cases around the world, this has increased to now over 50 million calls per annum.
